Re:lighten flywheel

I run a 5.5lb flywheel in my ZC, and highly recommend any type of lightened flywheel, whether its factory or aftermarket. They make the car rev incredibly quicker, and if you are running a turbo, it seems to spool a bit quicker.

We have taking around 5-7lbs of factory flywheels without problems.
(be sure to get it balanced afterward)

Re:lighten flywheel

Some machine shops do this, How much? it depends on the shop..

about 50 to lighten,
20 to balance..

just guesses

Get a aftermarket one, they are so damn cheap, 250 bucks for a 5.5lb flywheel.

I'm running a Clutchmaster's Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel, their Stage 3 clutch.. it's sexy. None of that slippage when you drop into third at 75mph. :)

Just watch when you launch, axles like to snap under boost. :-\

Know what I did? Bought one of those cheap axles from O'Rielly's with the "lifetime warranty" as a spare. Sooooo.. Whenever my axles snap, just pop in the spare (since it's always my drive axle), take it back.. FREE REPLACEMENT! ;-D

"Uh, what happend?"

"I don' t know.. I just pulled up to a stop light, it turned gren, I s tarted moving forward and heard this loud pop! Then I couldn't move anywhere. 'My mechanic' (heheh) said my axle broke. It's got a lifetime warranty, right?"

"Ya.."

"Good, I need a new one." ;-D

Hey Jeff didn't you guys lighten one of your flywheels on a brake lathe? I think I remember something about doing that on this web site.

If you did how well did that work for ya and did you guys balance it afterwards?
