who said it is gonna be stock bottom end? :D Also.. is your friends h22 stock? how much boost he running? ever get it dynoed?


Somehow im loosing coolant... and burning some oil. So the engine is gonna have to be rebuilt before i boost it. I can see some smoke come out the exhaust at higher rpms and when vtec engages. I did a compression test and came up with like 198-199-197-198. Havent done a leakdown test yet tho, I thought that blown head gaskets or pinholes will still show up in a compression test. Valve guides might explain oil, But i am still unsure where im loosing my coolant.

correct me if im wrong but why do you care about power down that low anyway lol...if youre at 3k on a road course, why not just downshift? lol. If i was you i would work on getting a better turbo choice and then maybe look into some cams that will suit your needs

regardless of the vtec question, a t3 super 60 will probably still be too small. i've got a 60 trim t3 on a f22 and its too small, just imagine what it would be like for you.

Oh well you didn't specify so I just assumed. Yes, my buddie's is a stock bottom-and-top end h22a1. I think it's got around 100-125k miles. Running a t3/t4 (forget the specs), running 7-8psi. I think he's had it dynoed but I forget the #'s. Nothing overly impressive. Maybe 230-240ish wheel?

hmm.. yeah.. I did some calculations and it looks like at 8psi it will be flowing around 30lbs/min. On the compressor maps from turbonetics it says 25lbs/min which just puts it out of its range which would be like 6000 RPMs on my engine. It looks like a the line fits the to4 54 Trim the best. the other trims would work but its int the highest effeciency rance with the 54 trim at 8 psi. It also looks like at 3000RPM its within the 65% range of that turbo.. The bigger Trims push it up to about 4k rpm. Looks like im looking for a t3/t4 with about a 54 trim on the intake to maximize effeciency at 8psi on the H22. Also from what ive been reading it looks like you can take your mass airflow (lbs.min) multiply by 10 and get your hp number. so it looks like around 300, which is not bad as long as i have maximized the area under my tq curve ;) .

Its not really the fact that i want power that low its the fact that if i am in the lower rpm range for whatever reason, when i push on the gas I go, not wait for lag and then for my turbo to reach effieceny cause my isnt flowing enough air..

um right... and who are you again.. ::) exactly. Sorry my mechanic skills are a little rusty, im a software engineer. Im working on getting my mechanic skills up to par tho. ;)

I did all the calculations from the post about sizing your turbo in excel and access .. which is mostly all theory based because of the first equation which you get your mass air flow from a engine displacement and rpm. Then i compared it to my buddy's senior design project(mechanical and aerospace engineer), which was all about sizing turbos and doing a bunch of calculations according to the thermo and fluid dynamics of the engine, actually using dyno numbers and real mass air flow numbers then calculating expected flow and hp/tq numbers from a turbo. The max projected hp and tq numbers from mine and his were within 5-10 hp and tq, which was pretty cool. but when you get into the lower rpms the numbers swayed off, i think because the efficiency of the engine numbers. The equations in the post about sizing your turbo is also wrong. I messaged him about it but i dont think he did anything, oh well. Im trying to get my buddy to let me post his project up and see what you guys think.
