anyone on here know if a turbo from a 1988 mazda 323
is any good for a d15?

 

That would be the VJ-14 turbo. Since the 323 is a 1.6 i am sure this turbo might work well given that you can fit it to what ever manifold your using. Just for some specs on it it comes from the factory running about 7psi giving the 1.6I 125hp. You can crank the boost up to 14 (said to make 185hp) or more but after that there is too much wear on the bearings to be worth it and the outlet air is hot. At 90F @15 psi the outlet temp is 290F which is about a 65 degree increase from stock. So use this turbo and carnk it up to 14psi.

 

thats all i want run is like 7 or 8lbs of boost and it is going on my stock d15(im using this engine as like a test motor) ...........so if that is a 125hp in a 323 what would it be on a d15 (say if the car was pushing 102hp)

 

Oh and you can upgrade this turbo to the Vj-16 inlet specs but not sure how easy you can get these parts.

 

what do you think about the IHI vj 11 turbo? id like to get that turbo for my d series. i read somewhere that the vj 11 is an upgrade from the vj 14. (which totally doesnt make sense because i always thought the higher number was better) how does the vj 11 compare to the vj 14?

 

If it is an upgrade from the vj-14 then it cant be a bad turbo. I mean the vj-14 is tiny but will do the job the IHI vj-11 cant be bad then i guess.
