Kenny Rogers LS-T
EDIT: I'll put the update first becuase the other ---- isn't important. I had everything ready to roll and I was really nervous about trying to turn the key... but I did... drum rolll....
it worked! I'm using one of Xeno's basemaps until I can see dave on monday. I had a small oil leak on my oil pressure gauge (good thing my interior is tan :P) but it's fixed. This turbo I'm using is pretty large so I don't hit boost til about 3,500... full boost probably 4,500 or so... I don't really know because I don't really want to rip on it until I can get it tuned. Oh... and the Greddy type s BOV has such a sweet sound :). I heart boost. /edit Well it's a good thing I gave myself plenty of time to work on this project... First prob - my turbo wouldn't fit w/o massive block webbing surgery. My buddy offered to let me use his ball bearing Turbonetics and of course I took it. The oil T snapped off IN MY BLOCK with very little force :7. Got it out using one of those reverse bits (twisting left actually gets tighter and pulls the broken bolt out at the same time). I called Tuner Toyz and they kick ass. I even mentioned that I bought this USED from someone else and they offered to replace it free of charge (minus shipping) because they beefed up their newer T's. The easiest part of this install has probably been the fuel pump :P I'm gonna post up some pics with the FMIC installed... it looks money. Another big problem is that there is a goddamn bar right across the street and we keep getting too drunk to work. Mac & Jack's is just too delicious. |
Re: Turbo install issues
Craig at Tuner Toys is good guy. Stands behind his product!

yeah, I was talking with Stacey (his wife I believe) and she was saying that Craig designed that fitting. You can't get it anywhere... I asked a couple places and it's as if I asked them for a flux capacitor.
I promise pictures shortly (because this thread sucks without them, I know :P). Dead AA batteries own me. EDIT: well, here are a couple shots of the turbo (friend who let me use it had a couple pics on file. Attachment 32819 At least 10 cats die every year due to turbo related injuries. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/k3nny/TO4B8.jpg |
Re: Turbo install issues

Re: Turbo install issues
Nice prgress. I would JBweld around that return fitting just to be safe.
|
Re: Turbo install issues
I should have taken a picture of it, but the inside is caked with JB weld. That ----'s not going anywhere.
|
Re: Turbo install issues
Should of pressure washed the engine before you put the turbo on... because it looks way to nice in that engine bay ;)

Re: Turbo install issues

Re: Turbo install issues

Hmmm ZC action......yeah get a filter..........I should be talking. |
Re: Turbo install issues
try putting the turbo the opposite direction facing the driver side. So it would clear up the block.

Re: Turbo install issues - Update: booooost!

steel pipe welded in or AN fitting bung welded in wins every time! |
Re: Turbo install issues - Update: booooost!
Well hopefully I luck out. The problem is that I didn't have a huge drill bit, so I gave it to my buddy who works at a shop to drill and weld. I trust him so I didn't even think about it... I guess we'll just have to see :-\
