Junkyard turbo for a B16
I'm going down to the local junkyard on Sat. to see what I can find, but I'd like to know which turbos I should be looking for. I've heard that the Ford TB0344 would be a good choice. For now I'll be running a max of 10 psi. I was looking at the junkyard turbo list, and noticed that the Mercury turbo is the same, and the SAAB 9000 turbo might be good also (just a bit bigger). What do you think? Is there any others I should keep an eye out for?

Re:Junkyard turbo for a B16
Deff. a 60/63 for a JY turbo. I made 237 at 8psi (.48 ar) and 262 (.63 ar) at 11psi. So you should be in that range. At those levels though, that turbo is working pretty hard, and it shows on my dyno graphs, the high cam is not making the torque it should be. I have seen a dyno graph of a B16 making just a hair over 300whp on that turbo at an unknown psi. Prolly a ---- ton.

Re:Junkyard turbo for a B16
Sounds good, thanks for the replies. So a T3 60/63 is what i'll be looking for at the junkyard.
Sunny and Preacher, if I don't find anything I'll get in touch with both of you. |
