and $255 for a log is cheap compared to it being $305 for a log.

uhh I'm gread with 300, lovefab charges 350 and yes I get plenty of orders off honda-tech....
by all means if you dont like the price buy from somewhere else.

If you want a ramhorn go ahead and by one, they are by no means an equal lenght manifold either. Some people would rather something a little differnt than the normal band waggon of a ramhorn so they buy the super elf.

You make a nice product but lovefab is sex they are a little more refined then yours. HMT is always looking for parts at good prices just dont price yourself out of the market that helped get you were you are now mr big wheel ;)

Re: JG-Fab.com your new source of turbo manifolds, downpipes, dumptubes

You should at least sell something cheaper than 200.
Comon a log is 4 damn pipes at 5 bucks a piece + a head flange, say 25 bucks, and a t3 flange at 20 bucks at most.

Re: JG-Fab.com your new source of turbo manifolds, downpipes, dumptubes

What did you expect posting such expensive things on HMT?

If something is over 200-300 dollars, then it probably won't be sold here.

Lets correct your price list:
Head Flange $27
Turbo Flange $17
Wastegate Flange $12

3x shedule 40 1.5" stainless steel 90's $17.67
shipping from mcmaster.com $10
aprox 1/4 lb of 308l filler rod $3
aprox 1/2lb of 309l filler rod $4
apox 600psi of argon $7.5
band saw blade $15
belt sand paper $15
2x 4.5" cut off wheels for angle grinder $4
1x 4.5" angle grinder grinding wheel $5
aprox 5 hours of work start to finish $82 (that is 16.2$ an hour, normal tig welding and fitting charge is over $40 an hour)
USPS Flate Rate Box shipping $8.80 with confirmation number
sitting in rush hour traffic in one of the largest citys in the world wasting gas, $10
losing out of work for that 2 hours of sitting in traffic

overall I think that is a very good price for all the time and effort that goes into it.
notice we have an actual shop and must pay bills like any other person, it is not an

And to try and have prices so low that you only make $5 of each manifold it would be next to impossible to stay in buisness because
you would be working 24/7 and the human body just cant take all that.

I get $170 for internal gate logs and $200 with external. I, on the other hand, only do it as a means of extra money and not to make a job of it. Most people don't understand all the costs involved. James' list is very accurate and that is why I don't really clear a ton of money. His prices are not that high and are inline with a good quality manifold. Mine aren't as pretty as his for a reason. You are paying him more to get a nicer product. For comparison I make a log in 1 hour and 48 minutes. I also figure on a minimum of $35 an hour clear. Other than that it is not worth it. I don't get out of bed for work for less than $20 an hour. I won't use my free time for any less either.

Thanks man, someone else in the game that knows what I am talking about. Many of you might have noticed my prices used to be much lower before but they were also alot lower quality than they are now, also when you make the change of working part time to working full time to pay for everything there is a big differnce as to how you must charge your stuff.

ill third that ----, people really dont understand the hidden costs.

dave, we target a budget audience though.. so its all good.

yeah you wont find many people spending 255 on logs though, for 255 thats mini ram territory.

hehe

if i were to do it full time, id charge more also.

Ya that is exactly right, that new website cost me $300 and then I still have
monthly payments to keep it online, I have to keep it updated and working, etc.
Funny how this thread turned into why manifolds cost so much when its purpose
was supposed to be a "grade my new website".

The new website is great james. However, you almost doubled your prices, what did you expect? -doubling your prices is totally understandable IMO considering this is now your full time job. Everyone wants everything for nothing these days. If you are making money, which you are, I wouldnt worry one bit about it. You double your prices, of course your gonna loose a few clients. Thats practical business. I myself am one who will gladly pay a few bucks for good customer servcice and a warranty, if i were to be in the market for a new manifold, I would go straight to you. :-*

sgoertz 11-20-2005 06:32 PM

Re: JG-Fab.com your new source of turbo manifolds, downpipes, dumptubes

Also to anybody that knows me, if you give me a call, I am always willing to give a better price than what is on the website. The website is there for the people that are just ready to go and buy something right then and there, not for the people that are willing to search for the best price, there are many people here and on honda-tech that will let you know I am more than willing to help someone out with the price if you would just have the time to talk to me in private.

I don't understand. Why the name change? It takes time to build a name people associate with, and it's been awhile with BMC being recognized for what it is, and now it's being changed.

Re: JG-Fab.com your new source of turbo manifolds, downpipes, dumptubes

If he wants to charge that much for a log manifold who cares? I mean really the market is so saturated with Honda log manifold builders now that its not like you can't find a decent priced log manifold elsewhere. Let him charge what he wants, but I don't see it being "HMT's new source of turbo manifolds" ;)

BmCrace is now to cover only the cnc machined parts (flanges, adapters, new upcoming rods, etc) while JG-Fab is to cover anything fabricated (manifolds, downpipes, dumtpubes, xmembers, collectors). It really isnt a huge name change, it is just to show the differnce in the 2 companies. We both work in the same shop and help each other out.

Re: JG-Fab.com your new source of turbo manifolds, downpipes, dumptubes

It all boils down to paying for what you get. Yeah IMO the prices are high but it seems like the quality is high also. I mean if you want a cheaper manifold buy a cheaper manifold.

Speaking from experience a lot of people don't recognize all of the hidden costs when running your own business. Especially when your business is your full time job.

Good luck with your business dude. I hope it makes you lots of $$$!

HEH; wow... Maybe honda-tech would believe those prices but yea... no... I dont think so.
YEs there are hidden costs but no they're not that high; and if you're bitching about wasting time at the post office order ------- supplies online and use the USPS pickup. It will change your life, I love it. Also you need to find some new suppliers; after shopping around i found mcmaster has some crap prices but man do they have a selection; also welding supplies; if you spend $20 on supplies per manifold you're getting FUCKED hard 2lbs of stailness filler rod at a mom and pop shop costs me $4 and a 250cu argon cylinder cost $40 to fill.
I refused to believe a friend of mine in houston that had done business with you and said you were getting pretty high and mighty but I guess its true. I want to respect you and your efforts but I can't, being in the business i know what goes on and i know MOST ALL of the online vendors of this ---- are making fat proffits.
