Lightbulb JDM Sport turbo GT30 and GT35 good news (please no negative)

i didn't know how many people would care to this but Jdm sport aka advancedjdmparts.com Gt30 and 35 turbo are based on the Garrett T28 and the bearing and internals are an exact fit! A friend and did the swap on his turbo(Jdm sports GT35) and it still runs great after 3 years now (20psi Daily Driven WRX and dragged regularly)

so $279 + Garrett 360 thrust T28 rebuild kit(about $100) = good turbo for a low price if you don't mind journal bearings ($379 +/-)

i just wanted to pass that along

im running 15 lbs of boost. oil feed is from the oil filter housing and the turbo inlet plate has a 0.060" restrictor built into the plate. a lot of people use a cylinder head plug as an oil feed line but there isnt enough pressure there so dont use it. either tap into your oil filter housing(cant remember if the ld9 has one) or tap into your oil pressure switch. which gt35 did you get? i got the gt3582 with the bigger exhaust housing. i wanted lag and high end hp. i drive it daily and never see boost until i want too. getting 23mpg city.

the ld9 motors need the 2.3 pump mod as they loose pressure at higher rpm. do not attempt to turbo the ld9 without this mod.

yeah i have the gt3582 actually for the lag and im thinking 7 or 8 low boost and 15-17 high boost with a dual stage boost controller(Dual Stage Version I J-K Tuning)

.....and im planning on running a sandwich plate for an oil cooler.....

the port out of my ld9 head gets 60psi cold 80psi @ 3500( engine temp at about 160)
hot is about 35 idle and 55-60 WOT but i actually watched my oil pressure drop 5psi at 5800 +/-

so for me the swap to the 2.3 oil pump is a must

and im over on j-body.org actually
..... wait i remember you.....yeah :-) GT35R spool up on LD9(Question) - Boost Forum - j-body.org - the jbody organization
nice to see you again lol

yeah people was telling me i needed a 0.035" restrictor to not blow the seals

thats me...

if you have a gt35r(ball bearing) then yes, you will need a 0.035" restrictor.
