i was just reading another thread and saw someone saying that the ebay turbos aren't terrible quality.. this is interesting.. I might have to read up..
I just found a GT2860R turbo on kijiji for $220 though, no problems with it.. wish i had the cash right now, i'd pick it up.

Buy a cdm turbo from phildtubbs, he has had zero problems with all the ones he has sold.
Attachment 9360

And he offers a 1 year warranty I think they are 210 shipped

hi, thanks for the tip, i was just actually reading his recent thread with the D16Y turbo install.

I have seen youtube videos of the CDM turbos failing, so i steered clear.. it intrigued me to see that he supports them with a warranty!

I'll have to think about it.. might be my option.

Oh, and the intercoolers are fine too i suppose, not much can go wrong there?

Used ball bearing turbos are a form of failure. As are the e-unmanage and the afc hack.

You need a megasquirt and a t3. More than enough for a 17 yr old first turbo car, and t3 will make more power than that engine can handle in stock form. You may even want to find a t25. Ignition timing control is going to be the key to keeping that motor in one piece, MS is your friend.

thanks man, I'm a huge rally fan, and I have a lot of friends with subarus, i have to show them up of course, and our winters here in canada are fierce.. eh ;D

thanks robb, i definitely have thought about T25 from a SR20, as they are pretty readily available. Thought Emanage might be the best way to go, but i'll look into MS.. just a little.. "intimidated" ? by the fact that its very hands on I guess?

What is so fail about a used BB turbo?

Re: Is this where I make my introduction?

I had no luck with the t25 off the nissans, I killed maybe 4 or 6 of them. They hated high oil presure >:D; even on the nissan sites they said anything over 5psi would kill them :S. I had a really small restricter and still and still killed the oil seals.

Since I had a good day I will pass it on. CDM intercoolers , bov , and wastegates are ok; turbo's have been know to fail but phildtubbs is a good guy/ sponsor so it might be worth a shot, pm him and see if he has a hole kit for you. I wont trust any other ebay seller for cdm stuff, why because there all worth less. phildtubbs is the way to go it seems for you at least.

There is always the good old hmt way. Jk turbo/ intercooler/ bov/ injectors, and just run ms for oil lines pm TT. /Thread
