internal wastegate question

New to turbo, don't hate me. I have a greddy 18g internally wastegated turbo (i know, greddy pos right? well i got it for REALLY cheap) but anyway, How much should the wastegate flapper move when I push/pull on the wastegate arm? The arm itself is threaded with a nut on it-- what does tightening the nut do (it was loose when i got it) Thanks in advance, and sorry for the noob question :S

If your actuator is mounted to the turbo/body, you should thread the arm so that the flapper is somewhat tight. You shouldn't really be able to open the flapper by hand.

Exactly. Just make sure that the flapper is closed by default. If you are able to open it, it should require quite a bit of pulling. If it just pulls right open easily and you have it adjusted right, then the WG is shot.
