I want to convert from internal to
external wastegate. I'm not sure what
steps to take. My guess is to block the
internal wastegate hole in the exhaust
housing. Then drill a hole on the manifold
for the external wastegate......

This a for a GT Ford Probe and Mazada MX6 IHI Turbo..

 

tie it closed or weld it shut.

i would choose to weld it if your not worried about re-selling it.

by welding i mean the flap to the cast iron.

If you dont want weld it you can get some chicken wire type ---- and tie the wastegate flap closed if you want to. The best think to do would be to weld it though.
