internal to external wastegate??
Please excuse my newbie question. I baught a used turbo off of ebay with a internal wastegate and I already have a external deltagate. Do I just take off the actuator, bracket, and swing valve assembly...and get a downpipe that blocks off the small hole on the on the exhaust side of the turbo?? Is that all that is needed??

Re:internal to external wastegate??
why is everyone so against internally gated turbos? the more and more i think about it. i think a nice T3 w/ an internal wastegate is better than buying an external one. with external ones you have to worry about boost leaks and with deltagates they never seem to open and shut at the right time.....why not stick with an internally gated turbo? just make a $10 boost controller. the instructions are on this site. or if you are feeling rich...spend the saved money on a fancy electronical boost controller. BTW....the more and more i think of the ---- i bought for my turbo project before i sold everything...the more and more i see the numerous mistakes i made....T3's are a street cars dream.....

all you hear about deltagates are the leaks between the flange and the unit. not to mention the terrible percentage of the time it actually opens and closes when its supposed to. i mean tial supposidly is better...but i $210 is a lot of money.

well that just sounds like a shitty gasket causing an exhaust leak...not a design flaw...a good external gate just flows better, ive seen dsm guys port out internal gates and use a bigger flapper to achieve similar results

deltagates are also infamous w/ boost creep. i mean Tial external WG is the "best" but i think an internal WG as long as the turbo isnt out of its efficency graph can be just as powerful for a fraction of the price.
