does anyone know if this is an internal or needs an external wastegate! All so wot is the extra hole on the hot side exit??

You can use either, but i highly recommend external. It will be cheaper and more effective than an internal gate.

The downpipe flange will cover that hole. If you are looking for a cheap, decent external wastegate I would recommend the emusa 38mm (2 bolt flange model). I've been more than happy with the performance and reliability of these wastegates.

I own a tial and an emusa 38mm, the build quality and performance of both is similar. I will never buy a tial again, just because the emusa gates are so much cheaper.

 

The extra hole is for the oem waste gate....
