Interesting Civic Turbo Kit

I thought I've seen it all but I found this kit that a company is selling, found it interesting:

Remember this is a real turbo kit (not an electric or any of that bullshit). Discuss...

Huh? Theres a pipe coming from the factory header to the Turblow I guess? And it's running what, 1 psi? 2 at most? Exhuast cooled? :1

ohh i get it...if u look in the first pic you can see where the exhaust comes up and enters the turbo so it is obviously exhaust driven and not some eclectronis bullshit....but now i have myseld asking why?

The company makes kits for bikes so they are using an Aerocharger self-contained turbo. These are the ones you don't need to run oil to so you can mount them however you want. And the fuel management has nothing to do with how functional the turbo itself is.

That's probably one of those Aerodyne self-lubricating turbos.

Civic Si with a D? I thought that generation of Civic's, the only Si's were in 2000 and 2001 and they came with the b16's?

Damn! That's cool. The bearing must operate similar to a wheel bearing. Just a little grease duirng installation and that's all it need.

heh, i was thinking they had put it on a car with an EGR valve and routed the gasses into the turbo.

that is one tiny ass charge pipe, my cock is thicker :S

theres problems with those turbos though, their designed more on the side of just being an oiless turbo than they are at doing their essencial job of being a turbo.

Re: Interesting Civic Turbo Kit

It reminds me of this manifold, they just moved the turbo enough to keep ac. Looks like there turbo placement makes piping for a sidemount really easy. They did have to route the lower radiator hose around the turbo. Idk, looks like a half ass kit to me :8

Uhm, ---- i messed up. But i'm not illiterate and dont get so offensive. Anyway Dr boost or Dr turbo it still sucks on a car. "210 hp civic SI" thats slow. But i did like the idea on a motorcycle.

99-00 were only EJ version of B16A2 Si fury. 96-98 were only up to Y8s.

EDIT: That manifold is PIIIIIMP! :y I want one!

Re: Interesting Civic Turbo Kit

Couldn't you still run a normal turbo like that? Have your oil pressure going in the same oil inlet, you'd just need a longer return line. It sits higher than my turbo does, so it seems like it would still be decent for gravity drain, unless the slope is too shallow. You may need to tilt the turbo on it's side but it doesn't seem like it'd be too huge of an issue.

What do you guys think?

Re: Interesting Civic Turbo Kit

Those turbos are very nice. Very versitile and compact. They also use VNT technology, which lowers the boost threshold significantly. I would sport one those anyday.

Foil bearings are awsome, just not proven yet on reliability when it comes to cycling the engine.

Re: Interesting Civic Turbo Kit

yea, ive heard about crazy remote mount turbo systems for camaro's. They use twin aerochargers mounted where the ------- mufflers are. Wouldnt you think there would be a massive amount of lag with that much piping? I think there is some kind of valve that keeps pressure in the pipes all the time. Pretty gay if you ask me, Dont try to reinvent the turbo system, its already perfected. Just the turbocharger itself...
