intercooler or no intercooler?

i'm wondering if i should go through the hassle of even running an intercooler on my car. i'm only planning on running 7psi on a twin 9b turboed v6. its got 10-1 compression if that will factor into my decision, let me know what you guys think. thanks

why would you not intercool it? if you dont want people to see it, lightly spray paint it black on the side people are gonna see.

i was just seeing if itd be necessary to intercool it, i've heard people say under 10psi an intercooler isn't that necerssary, i'm just trying to simplify the install and save a little money while i'm at it. let me know the pros and cons. thanks

it can be done safely but id intercool it especially if u plan on eating my honda.

hmmmmmmmmmm, I think whoever told you running a 10 pound setup w/o an intercooler was safe is lying to you. I would not go over 5 pounds without an intercooler. But thats just me. Besides, you will not see huge numbers unless you intercool it. The whole point is to make the air dense. HOT AIR ISNT DENSE.

Get an intercooler...

Re:intercooler or no intercooler?

Quick answer, always intercool, cooler aiur is more dense-->more air==more power.

Long answer, it is possible to hurt performance by putting on an intercooler, it takes power to pass all that air through those little tubes. if this is offset by the density change you will loose power. In practice this only happens, on very poorly designed setups.

If you can afford it, get an intercooler. Why say no to less detonation and higher charge density.

Well said. The intake charge temperature will effect the cylinder temp as well. running 10 pounds would be suicide.

the highest i would go on a honda would be 6 psi. as for anything else, i guess you just have to experiment!

be safe, run an intercooler

hmm must mean my car is a mutant. ??? 13psi no intercooler and 89 octane gas with a 9.3:1 compresion ratio. no ping either. oh and i make 210whp with ease. go figure.
