ok is it just me or don't your turbo spin even while its idling?if my car is idling at 700 it don't spin.it don't have no shaft play or nothing, it a perfect turbo.maybe the old sohc just cannot flow enough pressure? don't know maybe its the hf manifold. any other suggestions?

 

What do you mean by spin? How can you tell it's spinning. Unless the car has some high rpms, you don't even hear the spin. you using internal dsm wastegate?

 

when its idling the turbo don't spin.i just put it on, and i can take my filter off and see the blades inside the turbo not spinning at 700 rpms.but it spins fast as ---- when its revs up past 1500rpm.

 

yeah its the external 14b wastegate.

 

Hey if its the wastegate that came on the turbo thats internal. Your turbo won't spin till higher rpms. It doesnt always move. Have someone rev the car while your looking at the blades and they will start to spin at higher rpms. Just dont put your finger in there.

 

that sounds somewhat legit to me (except the stick your finger part). I would assume that the turbo is spinning at some rate, like maybe daisy wheel speed while idling. I would call it stuck if it didn't have some sort of movement.

So it spins freely when you have it off? Bearings in good condition? Sounds like you've answered your own question for yourself

 

yeah, that's what my turbo does too...won't spin at idle at all, untill you gas it a bit. Not a big deal, your ---- at idle isn't creating enough heat to move it. Mine is a lil worse though since its a friggin t3/t4 60 Trim 63/60

i have 14b on a d16z6 and it spins on idle, check ur wastegate.....cause when i first put on my turbo, i forgot to put the spring to hold the wastegate shut and it didn't spin. but once i got that spring on it spins at idle, i idle at about 850
