Default installed customcoach intercooler. now lost 2psi w/better pics now

sup guyz i just got done installin a customcoach intercooler. first of all it looks very beautiful. and goin from non intercooled setup to intercooled man my car is much faster, and smoother. and i went from 2' piping to 2.5'. dont get me wrong i love this intercooler. well worth my money. but one thing i lost two psi. i was boostin 5 psi non-intercooled w/ 2' piping. now im boost only 3 psi with 2.5' piping w/intercooler and i checked all the clamps and everything all tight. even tightened my wastegate. do u guyz think im losin boost cuz of the intercooler or cuz of the piping? or a leak somewhere?

now with better pics enjoy!!

Well I believe when you install an i/c it'll have a pressure drop. Also, where the hell are the pics!?!? I need to get a cheap i/c for my set up

Some pressure drop will happen with any intercooler, especialy one that big. Your larger charge pipes probably have something to do with it. Look at all the extra space the turbo has to pressurize now. That's quite a change.

If it bothers ya that much make one of those homemade boost controllers and crank it up 2 psi heh.

You say the car is faster and smoother, but you lost boost? It sound to me like your boost gauge is giving you a false reading, if you really lost two pounds of boost it would feal slower. Where did you hook you gauge to? it should be on the intake or as close to the throtle body as possible to get the exact preasure going in to the motor. Don't hook it in line with anything like a blow off valve or boost controller.
There is allways some pressure drop in the system, but two pounds is a lot, it's usually about a half pound or so on these intercoolers, plus a little for piping(usually to small to measure). Since you didnt say anything about turbo lag I will asume you dont have any leaks, a leak will cause a lot of lag. Double check that boost gauge and let me know what you find. Try another gauge or add a hand held vacume/boost guage and go for a ride.

It probably is faster since the intake temperature has dropped. If anything it's safer and more efficient. Now you can crank it up to 8psi!!
