Info on using EBC and other turbo questions
Hey all, I will be running the Tullos EBC with my turbo cav project and need a few answers. I know that the vacuum line is connect to the EBC then from there to the wastegate, but because of this if I got a cheap wastegate will it still open early, or will I have any other problems? Basically I was wondering if I'll have any problems getting a cheap wastegate. Now I measured the flange for the wastegate on my header and it came to be like 35mm ID, does this mean i can't get a 38 mm or what now? it's a 2 bolt flange just wondering about that.
Another question is I really like the Greddy Type S sound, is there another more common BOV out there that sounds the same? I know they discontinued it but finding one is still kind of hard, and the ones I find cheap are posts from like a year back lol. Thanks!

35mm and 38mm wastegate flanges are interchangeable.
About using a knockoff wastegate, just take it apart when you received it and make sure the diaphragm is seated correctly. Also verify that the correct spring is installed. It has been somewhat of a common problem for incorrect springs to be installed in the chinese wastegates.

Sweet so I can buy a 38 and put a 35mm flange on it? Good to know
So as long as the diaphragm is seated it won't leak boost? And it really shouldn't matter what spring as long as it's softer then what I have the psi set to right? And last thing is there a chance the diaphragm could fail from opening or closing? Closing I'm not worried about cause I just won't have boost but opening could be a problem since I really don't want to get boost creep
Thanks!

The flanges have the same bolt pattern and outer dimensions, but if you are using a manifold with a 35mm flange and a 38mm gate, you should bore out the manifold's wg flange a bit. The other way around, just bolt it up and don't worry about it.
Generally speaking you don't want to raise the boost too much higher than what the spring is set at, I've heard that if you don't go over double the spring's original setting you should be fine but don't live by that.
