I think it will be a good combo for a street car. What boost levels are you gona run? You can alwas check out www.not2fast.com they have a great turbo calculater on there. Hope this helps. I heard that the 42/48 spool at 3000 rpms on a d16. I also have read that the 60/63 spool at 4000rpms. I like small turbos for the street, Its fun to have full boost down low in the rpm range.

Holy ---- man, those 9b's are ------- mini. They're better used for boosting a Murray lawnmower or a Go-Ped or something. Granted the new turbo you're getting isn't huge, but it'll hold a hell of a lot more boost till redline especially if you have a high compression, cammed, ported, etc. motor. I've learned to buy once and buy right, so if you could scrape together another $100 you could probably get a better turbo if your goal is power. That's assuming you have the mods to support a larger turbo. Even a big16g or a .60/.63 will get you deep into 350whp land which should haul some serious *** with your set-up.

The one I normally use for such application is the t3/t04e 46 trim with 0.63 turbine and 0.70 compressor. that's good for over 300 WHP.

You definitely can make it spool up quicker with a 0.48 a/r turbine but it will limit you at 250 WHP.

ok on the factory t3 turbos, the compressor is not 0.46 or 0.43..... it's 0.42 and those are 200 WHP compressors. these 48/42 T3's are nice canditates for being upgraded or they're worth (for me) 100$ credit on any other turbo.

It's a stock T3 with a tiny turbine wheel and tiny turbine housing. There is no lag worth mentioning.

noboostedEGo is right, you'll get a ~100-500 rpms quicker spool with a log.

Go with a T04E compressor if the engine is built, there is no excuse for anything less.

is this a standard t3 5 bolt flange? this turbo has an A/R of .60 .63. and the guy says it has a stage 3 exhaust housing and wheel (whatever that means) it looks like i will have to plug up that internal wastegate hole and use an external

Yeah that's the standard 5bolt. The .60/.63 is def better than the .42/.48. How much does he want? Have you checked shaft play?

And on the wg hole....Does it have a flapper? Cause usually you just weld up the flapper and then run external. Otherwise you could just get an actuator and run internal. But external would probably be better if you're goin for bigger number eventually.
