I'm Boosted now! But have some Questions!!
Hey guys, i have finally finished my turbo setup (1989 CRX Stock D16A6), i'm using a mitsubishi TE04H turbo, with dsm intercooler, dsm 450's and the ghettodyne boost bin and running at 4 psi.
Here is my question, normally how hot is your charge pipe comming off ur intercooler going into ur throttle body Because due to the dsm sidmount interooler (95' mitusbishi elipse one) I could not mount it on the side under the bumper. Instead i relocated my battery and mounted it were the battery used to be. My charge pipe from the turbo is routed over the turbo manifold to the intercooler (i have wraped it in the thermotec heat resistant wrap), I did a few hard runs, and the intercooler, and charge piping is really hot! To give you an idea, if u hold ur hand a inch or 2 away from it, u can feel its radiant heat. Also when u toach it, its fairly hot, i can only hold my hand against it for a few seconds before i have to pull away from it. I am planning to mount a small fan on the intercooler to help disipate some of the heat, hopefully this will help. I would like to drive my car without the fan mounted to work this week, and am wondering if this would be ok, and not risk detonation from too high temp from the charge air.

It might be worth it to wrap your charge pipe coming off the turbo with some of the "SHINY" thermotec wrap that will radiate some of the heat in the engine bay.
Mine gets hot but not that hot. Also your atmospheric temp is alot COOLER than Cali.

I have a FMIC... The driver side coming from the turbo is hot, but once it gets to the passenger side its "COOL"-- cold enough that if a pepsi was at that temperature i'd drink it. Its not ice cold but cool enough for me to be happy with it.
