I just picked up an IHI Turbo off of a friend. I dont know what the factory wastegate is set at, it came off of a Ford T-Bird. I plan on putting it on my DOHC ZC. What do you think the wastegate is set at?

 

Without any other form of boost controller aid, the stock actuator is set to 7-8 psi.

For whatever reason, a few people running twin t-bird IHIs see about 10-11 psi with the stock wastegates-myself included.

How can I turn the boost down to around 6 psi?

 

AGAIN THAT TURBO IS TOO SMALL FOR YOUR ENGINE ! ! ! YOU WILL NOT MAKE MUCH POWER WITH 8psi AND ESPECIALLY NOT WITH 6psi. GET A BIGGER TURBO ! ! ! IF YOUR BROKE LIKE ME AND DON’T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO USE JUST RUN IT AS IS AT 8psi. UNLESS YOU ARE A ----- GET A NEW WG WITH A SOFTER SPRING SO THAT YOU CAN RUN LOWER BOOST, OR HEAT UP THE SPRING THAT IT CAME WITH WHICH WILL MAKE IT SOFTER BUT NO WAY OF KNOWING HOW MUCH.

 

DAMN! Turn your ------- caps lock off! And by the way that turbo is good enough for the zc. Im currently running one on my zc with 10 psi on stock internals. It spools up hella quick and dies off right at redline. It just is big enough, definitly good enough for your first homemade kit. I plan on up grading to something bigger soon though.

ii started running a ihi off a t bird i believe..... it came for free with a top mount so im sure a t-bird.. anyways... ive only seen like 6... but i have a few exhuast Mani. leaks... and it doesnt even start making boost till like 4500... GAY !!!!!!!!! but yeah it pulls great n dies off at 7000 or so....but i need to get that leak fixed.... maybe i can spool sooner...
