thunderbirds have RHB5's if your talking the Probe style ones yes that'll also bolt and be a real tiny hybrid.

I'm wondering this too cause I'm having a t3 flange welded onto my IHI exhaust housing and the t-birds RHB5 have a t3 flange on it already. How much of a difference would there be from a the IHI exhaust housing to the t-birds RHB5 exhaust housing?

I have compressor maps for both the t-bird and probe/mx6 IHI turbos, the t-bird flows ~350cfm the probe/mx6 ~250cfm.

I have the probe/mx6 model on my toyota, with stock gate it makes 7 psi, 165.5 HP at the rear wheels on my stock 1.6L 4age. Strong boost at 3000, full boost 3500-3800, and it holds the boost all the way to 7500 RPM redline. Pretty happy with it.

According to the compressor maps, on my application the probe/mx6 should be good for about 12-13 psi before, the t-bird should be good for 15-16 psi.

These turbos do have a smallish turbine tho, so probably not suitable for anything bigger than a 1.6, or a low HP 1.8, and probably too small for something like a b16, better suited for engines that made say 90-130 HP in NA form.

yeah, the t-bird compressor is about the same as a 60 trim T3 for flow, alot of guys build hybrids out of these compressor with mx6/probe/isuzu/sube turbos. The only awkward part is the fugly t-bird compressor housing.

I actually have two compressors bigger than the one I'm running right now, one is between the mx6 and t-bird size, I'm going to try it next I think. Funny thing I noticed looking at the maps, the smaller compressors fall out of efficiency below 6-7 psi, yet the bigger t-bird can run from 4.5 psi up, so if you need a low boost setup with decent cool intake charge (no I/C) and want quick spool, it's a good option.

no, upto '86 they have a 60 trim T3, not the same as a 'Super 60', the 'Super 60' is a turbonetics creation.

'87/88 t-birds came with an IHI RHB5, the largest RHB5 compressor on a U.S. production car came on the t-bird. So basically guys are pulling it off and bolting it upto their smaller compressor RHB5's that came on subaru, mazda's etc.
