Ok so, Im not new to hondas by any means-ive done work on em for years, including swaps..but this is my first turbo setup...JDM B16 in a 89 crx si..So far got the mani and turbo on, all oil lines done..Got to do the exhaust and all the piping today..heres a few pics..

yeah i know its a tease..i didnt have a chance to post pics tonight of what got installed and cut up today..hahhaha...got the downpipe modified and installed today with o2 bungs n wideband..got intake side of the piping done, still have to put the full exhaust on and the turbo side piping, plus put my new fuel pump in-didnt realize theres no damn access panel on a 89 crx for the pump..heres what ive got parts wise:
ebay ramhorn style manifold greddy type s bov dsm 450cc injectors ebay downpipe-heavily modified for lack of room in a crx w/b16 pretty silver vacuum line-ebay kteller 2.5 exhaust piping kit magnaflow muffler-another ebay special ebay xs power turbo-common t3/t4 .57 compressor side..cant remember the other specs Lowe's for oil fittings ebay for oil feed line with restrictor included. walboro 255 fuel pump ebay special boost gauge 38mm wastegate-xspower again... ebay intercooler and piping-with lowes addons del sol radiator-if i can get that one in there... custom chip burned with BRE-good basemap till I tune I think thats about it, Im probably forgettin something..Ill get more pics up tomorrow sometime... |

heres a few more..gotta put my fuel pump on, redo my dump tube-hadda take it out for the radiator...oops..do the turbo side piping, and finish the exhaust..gotta love kteller ;D

total cost..good question..ive been buying one thing at a time when i could for awhile now...I spent the most on the tuning parts like the wideband...and my kteller exhaust...and the turbo itself..i would say..800 bux alltogether..I ate ebay up for most of the stuff, plus traded friends parts for some of the smaller items..take your time and get one piece at a time, thats what i did. screw buying a "kit". Ive got a few parts that would work well on a d-series..just shoot me a pm.

How are you planning on routing the hot side charge pipes? Was it very difficult fitting the 1/2 sized radiator in there? I have to install one soon in my 90 hatch. |

ok..yeah i do need to redo some of the piping and get rid of some of the couplers-for now its kinda just a mock-up till tomorrow once i get a few parts..Ive got a support bar for the manifold-nice little fab bar going from the factory manifold support on the block up to the manifold-just havent put it on yet. Ill do that when i reinforce the xmember.
Hot side charge pipes..hell if i know..ive got little to no clearance on that side..ive got a few ideas ill try tomorrow afternoon when i get off work... The radiator wasnt too bad to put in, it just dropped right in..easier than it looks... My friend got the fuel pump put in today and the wastegate dump relocated as well. only big thing left is the exhaust and running the wires for my wideband to the dash. As far as the manifold cracking in the future-it looks to be made pretty damn well. I dont see it cracking much in the future. Ive gotten a few different manifolds in lately and this one seems to be made the best. Since im setting up a turbo setup for my friends del sol too, along with a b18 swap, Ive ordered lots of stuff lately. of course only time will tell. No updated pics yet, ill get some more shots tomorrow afternoon and try to get em posted tomorrow night. |

i had a 16 or 18 psi spring in the wastegate...i swapped it out for a 8psi one..and a boost controller..so im going to run just 8psi right now...maybe more down the road...ill tune it for 8 and make sure only a couple things decide to fall off, then ill worry about crankin the boost up.. >:D

everythings done now...no pics i left my camera at home. Ill get some tomorrow after I get my brothers accord head put back on. Got a few boost leaks since im only gettin about 3psi at the gauge and the wastegate is opening fine...had no boost to start with..thats what i get for cheap ass ebay piping..im going to get some mandrel bent 2.5 tomorrow and fill up my argon and make my own..sounds friggggin sweet tho..i love that sound!

Fix dem leaks son my hair scared you? for once its blonde..and not green, or blue, or red, or purple...haha yeah got some major boost leaks to fix..i might try the hairspray trick on the couplers..at least to get it high enuf to make sure the wastegate opens up..cuz im broke and mandrel bent piping to redo the cold and hot sides is kinda high. |

ok heres a few more pics..got a few issues im tryin to figure out. Only physical thing left to install is the rest of my exhaust...but im getting no or 2-3 psi of boost...ive eliminated a few small boost leaks-redid the hot side piping..theres nothing coming outta my dumptube-so it cant be the wastegate since it doesnt open till it recieved the boost vacuum signal..both the WG and the BOV are ran off the FPR...hell if i know...this boggles me..i havent taken it up the road either so...who knows...took one of the springs outta the BOV and its working halfway..i have a faint whistle once in awhile...i know its not the turbo-you can hear that bastard spool up nicely and loudly, its brand new..im baffled..im going to probably get some more 2.5 mandrel bent pipe and redo the cold side-weld up some piping so it eliminates couplers and possible leak points..anyone got any ideas? it pulls a nice 22 vacuum according to the gauge, then maxes out at 0 during throttle-once in awhile jumps to 2 or 3 psi boost max...

You say you haven't taken it up the road, are you trying to build boost while the car is parked?

ive played around with it running some with it parked yes...im pretty sure its gonna different with a load on it..better idea with taking it up the road-builds boost better i assume..??

lol..I'm new to boosting...Plus today was the only day I was SOBER while working on it..So i didnt think about that...hhahhaha..only cuz i had to work tonight...

Hahaha n00b! I'll bet you have no leaks at all. You can't really build any boost without a load on the engine.

oh what rev limiter? hahha..yeah ill take it easy, im not trying to blow her up-yet.....ive got to finish a few things up, ill try to take it up the road tomorrow..i do need to sleep sometime however...it might be tuesday..in a few hours it'll be 24 hrs up straight..and im at work right now..so a nap will be needed soon. im not gonna drive it hard hard till i tune it naturally...I appreciate the tips and comments.
