look into replacing the vacuum actuator, or upgrade to external gate.

yeah, i know that the turbo isnt too small because people run 10psi without a problem.
i did piece the kit together. i bought the mani, turbo, and dp as a whole and pieced the rest together.
i was saying adjust the wastegate arm so i will have a minimum of 7psi or so than use the boost controller to turn it up to 8. would that work?

Weird. I am running a Greddy 18g turbo and manifold with a custom 2.75 DP and 2.5 exhaust @ 16 PSI and it makes full boost around 3000 and holds it hard until 8500 RPMs. I do use a Forge Motorsports actuator and a ported wastegate hole and larger flapper. A divorced wastegate dump would be nice but I am happy with the turbo nontheless.

well i think i'm going to try adjusting the wastegate and making the arm shorter. and then if that doesnt work i think i'm going to try getting a bigger downpipe. and see if that helps out. because full boost isntt until 5kish

Sounds like a wastegate problem or possibly something elses is leaking, like the bov, but I don't think a leak at a small line would do it. And I definitely don't think its the turbo running out of air, being to small, cause peopel have run a 14b on b16 and kept boosting to 8k

well, its not the bov, i tried adjusting that to make it harder, greddy type s, and it didnt do anything different except make it not blow off as easily. so i dont know i'm going to try to adjust the wastegate actuator arm and make it shorter and see if that helps me out at all. i'll let you guys know. but any other help will be appreciated

how is the exhaust?
when i opened my exhaust, the pressure started holding better and spiking less. for one, there is no rush of air that will jumble in a small collector.
next, the boost controller.. some are spike prone and just overall start losing pressure.
any vac leaks.. that will cause it
