I have 2 MAP sensor! WTF? Pics.
Hey guys, i was looking under the hood today and saw these 2 sensors, they are the same thing, different locations, which one is functional and which one isn't? Also where can i put the check valves? Pics would be nice for reference, thanks.
One sensor is located ner the fuel filter and the other on the top of the throttle body. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46...t/223baa1a.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46...t/ea29d4ff.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46...t/26aa4d8b.jpg Its a D16Z6 engine with a P28 ecu. |
Re: I have 2 MAP sensor! WTF? Pics.
I have a 94 Civic with a D16Z6 engine and it only has one MAP sensor that is located on the throttle body. Maybe someone did an engine swap and did not remove the sensor located on the firewall.

What are you using to avoid you're cel from going off? Do you have any check valves's?

Just unplug one and see if you get a CEL. Also there doesn't appear to be a vac line running to the one on the firewall. |
Re: I have 2 MAP sensor! WTF? Pics.
That's what i thought! The one on the firewall has nothing plugged into it. If i was to add a vac line where would it go to?

FYI...I've boosted up to 15 PSI with the stock MAP sensor, and the light never came on during daily driving (I would beat on it once in a while). |

Yeah... that one on the firewall is not functional... just curious, where do the wires go to on that one? I'm willing to bet they'll lead you nowhere. Someone did a good job on cleaning everything up :8

I'd hate to brag, but i was the one who did the swap! I'll have to trace the wires form the firewall map sensor and see where they lead to!

[/quote] I have been doing some reading and if the stock map sensor can read up to 15 psi, how come it's giving me cel's???? I'm not boosting that hi, i have a K03 turbo on a stock D16Z6, it's only putting out like 7 psi if that! |

Get a vaccum line attach one end to the map sensor on my firewall and the other to _______, insert as many check valves as it takes to get ride of the cel that keeps on popping up??? |

Fubar, use the SEARCH FUNCTION and enter "check valves" and you should find a few illustrations/suggestions about how to install the valves. |
Re: I have 2 MAP sensor! WTF? Pics.
I ended up fixing the problem by adding 2 aquarium check valves of the throttle body and connecting it to the map sensor on the firewall. So far, no engine light and all is good. I'm running 4 psi of boost, i was thinking of increasing it to 7psi using an mbc, will i have to add resistors to my injectors, get bigger injectors or i'll be just fine???
I will be installing an oil catch can within the next couple of days, so that should take car of the crankcase pressure! |
