Default I got to drive the new STi today

The dealership I'm a tech. at is a VW/Mazda/Suburu/Toyota dealer. Well finally yesterday we got our first two STi's in. One was white with gold rims and the other was black with silver rims ( they either come with gold/bronze or silver rims and they only come in White,Black,Blue, and silver as color choices )The interior is sweet and I love the Recaro style Black and Blue swead seats. The tach is now center in the gauge cluster and bigger then the speedo and Fuel/Temp gauge. It also comes with a littel red shift light located in the center of the tach and where ever you set the shift point to when the light goes off it also makes a beeping noise to let you know you're at your shift point. The gauge cluster is what I call Lazer/LED lit with a little STi bagde lighted up at the bottom where it looks like the Mercedes and Lexus gauge clusters where unless the car is on you can't see the neddles or the cluster at all. The car comes with NO stereo from the factory it's a added option you have to buy the speekers and head unit yourself. The tires look like just like My Street/Drag radials and are made out of what looks like R compound. Basicly it comes with barely street legal street/drag radials. You can control the Center diff. and trans disribution percent example.. 50/50 ( which locks the diff so all four wheels spin the same or 70/30 front where 70% of the power is in the front and the other 30% goes to the back all by the push of a button. There's a overide button for the intercooler sprayer that sprays what ever cemical you put in the container in the back.. it sprays it at the intercooler. The 6 speed trans has a lever on the shift rod that you have to pull up on to put it into reverse and comes with the STi short throw shifter. The wing isn't as big as the EVO. but just about and the hood scoop is big as sh*t. Also now the STi comes with HID headlights that you can adjust by the turn of a *** inside the cockpit. You can change the level or the beams and the color of the HID ( but I think the color is just brightness ) they are not self adjusting HID's like BMW and Lexus. As the sticker says it comes with 300HP and 300Trq from the factory and the thing f*** pulls No lie I was being psuhed back into the seat. I couldn't get on it too hard because it was raining and also the car only had 4 miles on it. The new intercooler isn't that much bigger then the old WRX one ( not as big as the protype was showing ) and the letters STi or painted in redon the intercooler. Also the STi intake manifold is painted red. The stock exhaust muffler and tip or also ALOT bigger then the WRX. The turbo isn't that much bigger in size but a Boost gauge is another option ( $1,000 option might I add ) and this car didn't come with one so I couldn't tell how many PSi it was pushing. There's alot of road noise when driving the car because Suburu took out all the sound beding material so save weight and the carpet on the floor is thinner the the WRX. The ride is stiff as hell and not to bad noise coming from the STi suspension. Here's the kick in the *****. Sticker price is $31,000 at our dealership $32,000 if it comes with a boost gauge ( the other STi the white one had a boost gauge but I couldn't drive it cause it belonged and already pre-ordered by the sales women so I drove the black one but it didn't have a boost gauge ) Also at our dealership we are not excepting anything less then $5,000 over sticker if you want one which brings the total to $36,000 for one with out the gauge and $37,000 with the gauge and you'll still have to wait for all the pre-order people to get there's first before walk-ins are excepted. one guys came in and is paying $40,000 to get one before the people that pre-ordered because he couldn't wait that long. It's well worth the money for what you're getting in my eye's and I'd buy one if I had 40 g's to shell out. Only STi certified tech.'s are allowed to work on them when they come iun for service and only STi certified dealers are allowed the sell them. I'm not certified to work on them but the tech that is was nice enough to let me drive it real quick when we got done P.D.I.ing it ( Pre Delivery Inspection ). Well thats all maybe if I win the lotto I'll buy one.

Thats what the warranty is for. Also Suburu is VERY VERY strict about people modifing this car. If it comes in for anything what so ever even a oil change we have to check it over and see if the owner maodified anything and if so the warranty is automaticly voided. Even something as small as a intake or K&N Filter put on it will void the warranty. Suburu gave us a book of what to look for and where to look for it when it comes to modifing the car. Sh*t 300HP 300Trq AWD why modify it it'll already spank alot of cars out there stock in the 1/4. I'm gonna go postal if I see some little 16 year old kid come in here and have his/her parents buy it for them. Little spoiled bastards.

At the BMW dealership i work at they sometimes have aftermarket parts on the cars but the parts have to be a specific brand( DINAN, AC SNICHIER, OR SUPER SPRINT ) our dealership will support these brands and warrenty will not be voided, i guess that our dealership should get a littler stricter on those rules....

Voiding for air filters is against the law, unless the dealership gives them out for free. It's kinda like telling people, "if you replace anything, we are the one's that profit" Trust me.

ya, you can replace certain things. If you change your springs and then your struts die, then duh no ----. But if you replace your brake pads for better ones and your engine blows up..

You should read a book called "Lemon-Aid" Tells all about legal warrenty crap.

The price is OK since it's not winning in head to head reviews w/ the EVO. Plus that wing is gawd awful ugly.

The STi does what the EVO does, but with only 14.5psi vs the EVOs 18ish... No radio sucks, but it not like anyone keeps stock radios anyway... My Focus had a remote start and 1000watts in it 2 days/100miles after I bought the car.

PS: Scooby looks better anyway..

And its not like Mistu wouldn't TRY and void your warrenty either over something stupid.

Stock to Stock, maybe... ( mostly driver ), but turn the STi boost upto the same level as the EVO's ( 18psi ) and now were talking about another 40ish HP on the STi's side.

Look, I drive a Mistu, but I gotta say the STi is a better platform, minus the aftermarket support the EVO/4G63 has.

THe new Neon is my personal favorite of the bunch, 220wHP, 240+torque, and one guy ran 12.9 with a 2psi boost adjustment and a DP and slicks... Did I meantion its ALMOST half of what the EVO and STi are going for ? Stupid neons...
