Re:how to size up your pipe?charge that is

I just looked at the diameter of the hole coming out the compressor and just used piping of the same size up to the intercooler; it was something like 1.25" ID and the throttle response was amazing. After the intercooler it stepped up to 2.25". I've looked at some "pro japanese" turbo drift cars and they seem to follow this logic for good throttle response (small pre intercooler piping followed by large piping going into the t.b.); but what do they know?? :P

Going purely on theory (usu not the best way), you want the smallest pipes possible without causing enough restriction to cause a pressure drop from the turbo to the t.b. Turbo's flow a certain cfm (volume/time) so the turbo will pump a certain volume of air per unit time. If you have big ass bling bling pipes it'll obviously take more time to pressurize the volume of the pipes.

The best way to figure it out? Use different sizes and see which one works best.

wrong again. The only way huge ass chargepipes will create more power is with a huge ass turbo. There is no more power to be gained with making larger charge pipes. There's more cross sectional area to fill with boost, more lag and yes there even can be a pressure drop depending on the turbo size.

2-2.5 inch charge pipes is what you want. Anything smaller is too small and anything larger is dumb unless your building a 700hp motor

correct, i didnt quite specify that. it all depends on how much air youre pushing. all i'm saying is that bigger charge pipes are better because they have more potential. and no you wont see hardly any difference between 2 and 3 inch charge pipes. I never said use 6 ::)

I ran 2inch to the intercooler and 2 1/4 from cooler to tb, on a d16a6 and a t25 turbo. Seams perfect spools fast, maybe too fast :-\ I would go bigger for a dohc ;)

I have a b16a2, i have a t3 60 trim with a 2" outlet, would i be better off running 2" from turbo to intercooler, and the 2.5" from the intercooler to tb? any suggestions?

^^^ I would run 2.25 from turbo to cooler, 2.5 from cooler to tb. Get an reducing adapter to go from 2 to 2 1/4 ;)
