So I got a free T3 today. Its the standard 42/48 and its rattle canned silver

The turbo has seen many better days. It has too much side to side play and supposedly a blown oil seal, though I doubt there was an oil restrictor used on it. There is pretty much no in and out play. Well, when the side to side play got bad, the compressor blade nicked the housing. How much damage is too much damage to the blades ? I'm posting pictures.

 

you know what that doesnt look incredibaly bad. i would send it off to blast and have them rebuild it for 125shipped. good find

 

Blast ? Where ? Could you give me more information on where to send it for rebuilding ?

sell it on egay and buy a good one for less than 100

 

point me to a good t3 for less than 100 and I'll buy it.

 

looks like the compressor wheel was rubbing on the housing, there must be alot of play

 

why buy another used ebay turbo when you can send this one off to blastperformance.com and pay 125$ shipped for a new turbo. i dunno your choice

 

tough to say without seeing the compressor wheel inside the housing to see how much material was taken off of that compressor wheel, it could still be good or it could be junk. That backing plate is no good either, its missing a chunk and itll leak like a bastard and youll blow it if you try to use it like that
