B16/B18 sleeves have been proven to hold 4-500whp in stock form. It's rare but if tuned right it can be done.

Eagle rods with the arp2000 rod bolts can hold a max of 600hp. JE pistons are going to be good as well, probably nothing I'd worry about.

3-400whp with a mild build (rods/pistons) is very doable. I've only seen a few ls's (non vtec) making that kind of power. My personally opinion would be getting a vtec head and putting it on the same time you do the bottom end. Swapping heads is going to give you a easy 60-75whp gain if not more.

from what i've seen it isn't that hard to build a motor. patience is the key. biggest thing i've ever done to my car besides a turbo was changing the factory clutch. took me three dam days cause i have add.lol j/k but if you take it one step at a time with patience you can build your motor yourself and save some money at it too. get a Haynes Repair Manual and go though the steps it takes to build a motor so you can sorta grasp what's invloved and see if you're upto it.
