Default How Much Boost?

I have a '92 Civic HB with an all stock '95 GSR motor. How much boost can I safely run using a T3 or T4 turbo?

Depends on engine management...

With Hondata, you may be able to hit around 8-10psi safely..

first off...t4 turbo is just not an option..its way to big.. im sure you COULD run up to 12-14 psi on a stock engine with a hondata and big injectors...but a b18c1 has a high compression ratio and thats not gonna be very streetable.. i would say 6-10 psi on a street motor...but thats just my opinion.. 5-7 psi with a FMU and inline,7-9 with a S-AFC with dsm injector hack with no ignition retard.

I've heard Hondata is expensive to setup (is this true?). How much boost with a T3?

Let me clarify my question a little. How much boost can I run with the T3 safely without having to do a damn thing?

Interesting. I'm assuming that 2 psi wouldn't be ----. That would be a waste of time. Tell me, how come I see these kits from companies like Greddy who claim you just put all the ---- on that they give you and you get a bunch of hp out of it? How do they get away with it? Aren't peoples rides grenading everywhere or what?

What do you mean? Greddy gives you some type of fuel management with their kits..

SOHC Kits (Greddy Black Box of lies) basically like unplugging the Coolant temp sensor, just makes the car go rich at all times, Designed only to work at the stock wastegate level which is 5.5psi.

DOHC Kits (greddy)Blue box, basically you use this blue box with the set of 310cc injectors, and your good to go for like 7-8psi. The injector box modifys the map sensor signal wire, so it can run the injectors, and not run rich at idle.

DRAG/Rev Hard Kits, use Boost Depened Regulators, AKA FMU's aka RRR Rising Rate Regulator. These have special disc inside with different ratios 4:1 8:1 12:1 etc, basically these mount on the end of your fuel system, and create massive fuel pressure to blow through your injectors when boost hits. example, your fuel pressure is 37psi and you use a 8:1 FMU, for say running like 9psi 9x8 = 72 + 37psi = 109psi In your fuel rail! it works, but in time your injectors just get fucked, and you can easily run lean doing these types of setups.

What I recommend, is a standalone type system, hondata/zdyne/AEM EMS, whatever... (for big bucks)

or if you wanna hack it, like 75% of our board members do..

its called the AFC hack with DSM 450cc injectors, You can easily run 8psi with these setup safely. Just read through our Engine managment forum for more info,

Jeff, thanks for the info. Very informative. You wouldn't happen to know how much The Greddy Blue Box costs or where I could find one do you? I looked around but to no avail.

pretty tough to find, since I belive they only come in the "Greddy" kits, so I dont know if they sell it seperate or not? try contacting greddy direct and seeing if they will, might cost a bit more than you want to spend.

Also, if you do use the Greddy blue box you HAVE to use some larger injectors like the 310's because its designed specificaly to work with those.

That is why people really like the AFC/SMC/Fields Controller hacks, you can throw a big *** injector in their (dsm injector, 450cc) and you are capable to tune with these air/fuel controllers. They basically modify the map sensor signal line, bringing it down to a lower voltage. And you also wont need any check valves with this little trick. Read up on it, and my guess is that you will probably want to go with it
