how to lower boost

Hey guys,

killer site.

i looked in FAQ and the very 'how to lower boost' question i had, the link is dead.

so, here is what i got:

a 97 dohc saturn using the mitsu T25. i only want 8psi because i'm not interested in using controllers and whatnot at this time. i'm going to use the BEGI rrfpr with around 300cc/min injectors.

because the stock mitsu's wastegate pays off around 10-12psi, that is obviously much more than i want so what have you guys using the T25 used to control pressure down to around 7-8psi?

what wastegates from other applications have that low of a boost setting that might either swap right in OR be able to be tweaked slightly?

i feel like i came to the right place for answers. thanks!
kurt

Re: how to lower boost

extend the arm. that'll be the only way to lower boost. as you cannot lower boost even with a boost controller

Remeber where you are.....

At HMT everything is adjustable......

Chop the the wastegate arm in half and thread both sides. Use a long nut to lengthen the arm and adjust from there, you shouldnt need too much.

yea or heck even bend the bracket a little. you're trying to open the wastegate flapper a little, or relieve some tension on the actuator arm. this is about all you can do to lower the boost, without switching the wastegate, i believe. i don't know about the saturns in perticular, but if it was me i'd just take the boost source as early as possible (before the intercooler) and leave the wastegate the way it is. you're gonna want that power sooner or later anyways. good luck.

another cheap / unreliable way is to remove the stock wastegate and use a spring say 8 psi and attatch that to the flapper ... its dodgy as hell but its another way around it .. best thing just run external or shorten the actuator with a long bolt and thread
