Default How long did ur turbo run for?

This is a question for all of you! ghetto home turbo rebuild people who didn't get their turbo blanaced after the rebuild. So my question is how long did the turbo last you? And for those who did home made rebuild and then got it balanced how long did it last you.
PS: If u kno of a shop that does cheap turbo balancing please post
Thank you

i took my turbo apart to clean it, didnt mark anything. Put it back together and it outlasted my motor. haha well it blew up in like 3 months, beating on it like crazy. 15 lbs on BBKA's map without adding more fuel, just beccause i was too lazy to burn a new chip . its only a D

I am getting a 14b it has a lot of walk and it really needs a rebuilt but hey 35$ shipped .
So I was thinking of rebuilding it so it doesnt walk anymore and maybe getting it balanced but thats only if its cheap.
And as of right now I am leaning toward just rebuilding the thing with the marking of the blade and nut and then just puttin it in and waiting until it goes. Oh and I'll be running about 5-7psi on it and wont beat it too much until I get a built engine.
I would like to hear more from u ppl about home made rebuild.

that 14b is tiny and won't be any good above 10psi.

I am not looking for anything over 10psi, so I am totally fine with that. Its gonna be my daily driver so I wanna keep it as reliable as possible. So at first I'll probably be running 5psi so that there isnt much stress on the engine and then when I build a new engine (prolly rods, pistons, maybe some head stuff like cams, valves but nothing race like cuz I still want it to perform as a DD, so I am just trying to make a reliable 8-10psi engine).

Please post more (time it took for it to blow up) stats on ur turbo

It costs $35 bucks to get the turbine and compressor wheels balanced at turbo city. I think that is pretty reasonable.

u ppl are killin me, half say that turbo balance is 100% needed some people say it will be fine without it. What should I do, I wanna go cheap route but at the same time if it blows up I'll spend more on a new turbo.

as long as you dont change the compresor or turbine wheels, there is no reason a turbo needs to be balanced after you put new bearings and a thrust washer in it. I did mine 8 months ago when i put my kit on, didnt mark where the compressor nut or anything went. The turbo is the only reliable part left.
