i keep seeing busted *** 14b "cores" on ebay really cheap from user c2etalon. i looked through the FAQ's, and couldn't find out how hard/easy it is to rebuild turbos. i tried searching on google, but everywhere i read about it said that it isn't that hard... as long as you have a glass bead blaster. i don't have one. is a glass bead blaster really necessary? i have never taken a turbo apart, so i am wondering if this would even be possible for a noob like me. should i even consider buying one of these turbos for a rebuild? the reason i want to rebuild one is for the experience as well as to KNOW that i have a good turbo.

i REALLY am thinking about getting one of those fucked up cores now.

what about this "glass beading" i have been reading about. that link didn't mention it... but all the other turbo rebuild writeups i have read say that it is absolutely necessary, and that if you dont have a glass bead thingamaboberfuck then don't even bother doing the rebuild yourself. did you get yours glass beaded? also, i don't understand... what part/parts exactly do you glass bead? and my final question, if you don't have a glass bead blaster, what kind of shop would you take it to and how much should you expect to be charged?

 

i almost forgot, where would you buy a 14b rebuild kit? specific websites please. i see ones for t25's all day, but am unable to find ones for the 14b. i have tried ebay, as well as google-ing. also, how much would you expect to pay for a rebuild kit?

 

all glass beading does is clean the turbo.

if you bead blast exhaust and cold side, itll look like new.

yup that is all it does. i bought one of those turbos from c2etalon and the berings were still good, but the seals were all dry and cracky. i bought the rebuild kit off of ebay for $95 but you can get them here also.http://www.turbocity.com/turborepairkit.htm

 

i hope you guys are buying those crap turbos for like 10$

because they can be bought on here for like 100-130$ with good seals.
