Alright, I was getting worried for a minute. Cruising in 5th is fine, just dont suddenly stomp it.

Hmm, so u guys are saying extended boost in 5th gear is bad? Cause on the highway, in 5th, i'm normally around 3700 @ 120Kms/h (i live in canada). I don't have my turbo on right now, but at 3700 rpm, it would be boosting at 6 psi. So does this when the turbo goes back on, and i go on a trip somewhere i might blow the engine because i would be boosting at 6 psi for like 3 hrs???

You shouldnt boost 6 at 3700 with a light throttle load. If you were to have the gas on the floor, yeah, but I dont think that partial throttle will yeild much boost. It dosent in my friends ls turbo anyhow. For example, in 5th, just cruising, even though the revs are close to 4k, its in vaccum. BUT, when he stomps the gas, it will goto boost. But I will warn him about that now.

Oh, and it may sound funny that an ls is at 4k in 5th at 60, but it has a gsr tranny. The car had a gsr and the block was swapped out.

Ok, well thats good news, cause i'm putting in a new engine next summer and the turbo will go in at the same time...don't wanna blow it! thx for the info

Yeah, it takes some throttle to go into boost. Just because the engines turning doesnt mean the turbo will boost.

MAybe if most honda guys would get off there horse and low the damn compression in the engine, 5th gear might not be a problem...

10psi in fifth gear all the time, 100K mile Z6 block.

My friends buick grandnational is so touchy about "load" that if someone weighing over 200LBS or so rides in his car, it will get a little knock in 3rd gear !!
