How do you get oil out of an intercooler
Well I'm just about done collecting parts, I was just going to buy a johnnyracecar front mount, but I was looking at how easy it would be to use this extra saab intercooler I got laying around for temp use, well anyways its got some oil in it, how do I clean this out? would good old degreaser work or what?

Re: How do you get oil out of an intercooler
I would use some brake cleaner and stuff like that and let it set out to dry for a day. You could also try soaking it in simple green for a day or two and scrub excess off and let that dry out for a day. I degreased a whole b16 in simple green on time before i built it. ;)

Used a parts cleaner and solvent to clean mine... can you tell we didn't let it dry entirely before TIG welding the 2 sidemounts together?

Is that safe? I don't plan on welding it though, I got a small radiator fan today off of an old accord that I'm going to be running on it as well as a scope I'm making out of hardware store parts, its going where my battery is, I'm doing it to see if it will work, if not than I'll get a front mount. Plus do I have to run coolant to my t25?

naw don't worry about the coolant lines.

Re: How do you get oil out of an intercooler
I used brake cleaner on mine, flushed it with water, then held a hair dryer on each end for about 15 minutes at a time. Massive amounts of steam.
