get a grinder, with a grinding wheel and work at it from the side of the grinder... will take a while, but will be worth it

if you have or access to a plasma cutter that would be one way or you can cut into the streight side of it with a saw and grind the rest with the grinder or use the cutting wheel

I would maybe try a hole saw and a drillpress at very low speed with lots of lubrication.

lookin good.

i probably would not use a cutting torch, it will effect the metal around the area you're cutting.

if you don't want to mess with using a 4-1/2" angle grinder on it (which I could have done in no time flat) then take that ---- to a welding shop and have them plasma the hole for you, shouldn't charge you much.

I HAD access to a plazma cutter yesterday, but I don't any more(my car class is over for the semester ) I have a drill press, and I could go and buy a hole saw, i'm not sure how I could clamp it down though...hum...maybe I'll take it to a machine shop and see what they can do.

Clamp it down on a vise and go at it with a bimetal holesaw. You can just use a regular drill and spray it with cutting lube or even wd40.Trust me on this one.Sometimes I use my cordless drill if I cant angle it right on the drill press.

cut a piece of pipe thin, tack it onto where u want your hole, then run around the inside of the tacked pipe with your cutting torch. works awsome.

also, if u can bolt it to a spare head for this to keep the flange from warping thats a good idea.

if not let it cool in sand after your done, do not put water on it. bury it in sand.
