How Can I Make the WG Open at 5 psi?
Gay question, I know but my wastegate is set to open at 7 psi, and it's pinging like a bitch a 7 psi (high compression engine - I'm running standalone and a wideband - everything else is fine).
I want to back it off to 5 psi - is there a way to mess with the wastegate actuator to make it open sooner?

Retard the timing. :P
You can lengthen the actuator arm, but that causes lag and increased spool time.

You can lengthen the arm by shimming the actuator to be closer to the WG, or you can get creative and use a piece of all-thread and cut the arm in half. You just need to open that thing a little bit. Some washers should do the trick, depending on the mounting of the actuator.

It's 93 octane, and the CR is 9.5:1 , kinda high but not crazy high.
I'm running 20 degrees total advance at 7 psi - is this too much?
I may just say ---- it and build a boost activated water injection unit. Just see if I don't, bygosh

if its not adjustable ive heard you can shim it reversly to get the opposite effect of shimming for more boost. in theory this would work, because the opposite of adding boost is taking it away right .
but then again ive seen some turbos that have the WG pressure bonded to the housing so not sure a pic could help

Yay, it's got 2 bolts holding it on, I could totally shim it, but it's deep in the bowels of a VW Rabbit engine bay - it would take a while to get to it. ----, I may just gove it a shot tomorrow and see.
