It seems like a good idea since it hard sometimes to get a flange on the mani for the wg. Damn thick steel is hard to cut. I wonder how well it would work going from 20mm to 35mm.

 

i think i might try it. i'll let you know, although i have nothing to compare it against.

 

ive seen it done on a few different setups on the web. and a tig welder is the tool of choice when weldinging a external wastgate to the exhaust housing.

If I have any say in it. We are not ------- up his SC61 by welding a flange to it. Josh is coming up to my shop on Thursday night and we will finish it up and put the waste gate flange on the mani. Pics to follow....stay tuned.

 

if you're going to run it back in to the exhasut, you should do it a little further down and make sure it's at a very slight angle, as close to parallel as possible so you don't interrupt the flow of the exhaust

for someone that complains about people coping manifolds Im surprised you chose that style to copy. lol just joking good luck with your manifold making.
ps: get a gas lens for that tig if you dont have one
