I really hate the way it looks, but i had to do this to my car. Temps get hot after driving the car around for more that an hour. Hot to the point where you open the hood and touch the charge pipes or intake manifold and about get burnt. Car has not been like this since i did this to the hood, but the same day i did this i also changed my turbo manifold so it could have helped cut down on the under hood temps. Dont know

im also not too big on the looks, but its a lot more subtile than a hood scoop. hopefully there is some real research done about it

i've use the washer/spacer setup. 1 inch is more than enough. i can't provide the right 'information' but i can feel heat coming out from the void between the hood and body of the car.

I had to space the hood of my nova up like that, we call it the redneck cowl hood. Even without inner fenders my under hood temps are outrageous.

Coolant temps, no it runs at a steady 185 no matter the weather, but the turbo exh housing sits 2" from the carb bowl the heat soaks into everything... Its not bad enough that the intake and exhaust manifolds bolt to each other lol.... talk about vapor lock
