Just put on the backplate, compressor wheel, and housing. It will be less hassle and also you don't know what kinda of play there will be if you put the T3 turbine wheel in the other CHRA.

You don't need to have them balanced.

i think i'll go ahead and have the turbo rebuilt to be safe. the t3 has quite a bit of shaft play, one could prolly use it, but blaast is definately within budget.

hoe much better do you think an elephant manifold would flow compared to mine and the fucked up runners?

Yeah, who cares about balancing something that spins 100 000 RPM, f*ck that! It's absolutely useless !! and shaft play is no problem at all, who cares if the wheels rub the housings a little! AFter all, they will eventually wear down to the proper size!

Wheels are balance seperately. If it needs rebuilt, buy a rebuild kit for $40. Besides why would he pay that much to get it rebuilt, when he could just pay a little more for a nice BRAND NEW garret hybrid and get any combination of wheels and housings.

Yes,
when purchased brand new from garrett, turbo wheels are balanced separately. True statement.

and then when they are actually put in a turbo, material is removed from both wheels to balance their assembly with their counterpart in THAT single turbo ONLY and still, that is true only under one single assembly angle, with only one single thrust collar and nut. At that point, none of the wheels are balanced separately anymore. THey are individually out of balance. if you mix and match wheels and shafts from 2 used turbos, these unbalances sum up together to make a certainly unbalanced assembly that will prematurely wear the bearings and the seals.
But don't take my word for it. You can test a randomly assembled turbo as much as you want, it will certainly work long enough to give you a taste of this hybrid and then, it will fail in a cloud of blue smoke. we are on HMT here after all: Doing stuff right is just an option.

so why would he give a rebuilider 2 good turbo cores to make one good warrantied turbo for only the price of a rebuild ?
-Because #1 it's cheaper than a complete new or reman garrett turbo and #2, this wheel combination may be exactly the one he wants anyway.

i agree. i bought that t3 for $100, to4 cost me $free-fifty so for a t3/to4 .48/.60 (i think that perfect for me with room to grow) with upgraded seals. freshly rebuilt with a warrenty brings the total to $270. thats my kinda ----!

plus my grandpa gave me that t04 off a tractor a few years ago, i'd like to show him that i used it.

how are your boost controllers? $20 seems too cheap

Right, $270 total. He's talking about $400 for just a rebuild. If you pay that along with $100 for a couple of turbos, that comes to $500. $50 more and you'd get a brand new Garrett in any flavor of T3/T4 you want.

$400 was a quote from a local turbo shop. total cost of both turbos and rebuild is ~$270 so i will have $270 in a rebuilt warrentied t3/to4b v trim. which is probably what i would buy if i bought one from garret.

---- for $270 total, that's a pretty good deal.
