HKS SSQV Fluttering

I know this bov is supposed to flutter under low boost but it seems to be doing it under high boost. Not getting the high pitched chirp at all. Anyone know how to fix this or is it a Compression surge because the bov isnt releasing quick enough. Let me know please ;)

Re: HKS SSQV Fluttering

mine is recirculated and it flutters under like 10lbs of boost... so if it's recirc'd that could be it.

check and make sure the vaccuum line is not kinked or anything too.

I think my vacuum line is split with the boost gauge not 100% sure havent looked in a while. It's not recirculated thugh.

YA compressor surge from the BOV not opening or not opening enough.

Re: HKS SSQV Fluttering

try using a different VAC source..maybe a T from the FPR..it constantly in VAC

How easy is it to hook it up to another source? such as the brake booster?

Changed the vac source to the brake booster and still got nothing. Took thhe bov appart and inspected and everything seemed to be in working condition.

when the car is at idle the bov should be open ,check if it opens.

Ah not true for all BOVs. Usually only ones designed for superchargers stay open at idle.

Re: HKS SSQV Fluttering

that flutter is normal for the ssqv. it is not compressor surge. ssqv is a duel stage bov hence the sequential in the name. lower boost levels will flutter like a nasty queef. higher boost levels will give you the second stage "CHIRP!!''. my ssqv sounds exactly like that video on lower boost levels.
heres a video of what compressor surge really sounds like.

diaphram bovs are the ones that are usually open

piston ones should stay closed.
