Default Hi.. Newbie going turbo

Just wanted to say hi.

I've been planning a Turbo conversion on my 91 gen4 Civic Vtec (B16A1), and this site has been really useful!

Trying to source parts quite cheaply, although I'll be using any cash saved on setting it up properly.

So far I have obtained -

2WD Ford Siera Cosworth intercooler, which seems to be made to fit on the Civic.
Garrett T25 from a Nissan 200sx

Other important parts I'm looking to get are -
HKS Turbo Manifold
Custom Downpipe to match exhaust (2.5")
Hondata s200 (with boost control)

I haven't mentional all the wee parts that go with it, but I would like to hear if anyone has had good/bad experiences with any of the above, or can suggest better alternatives.

My "planned" setup is very similar to yours.

I'm doing HKS T25 manifold with adaptor to a 14b, 450cc injectors, Uberdyne (no money for Hondata), probably DSM blow off valve, and aftermarket intercooler.

I've gotten the intercooler, HKS T25 manifold, 14b, and some pipings...

Still gotta get the rest. Also on a B16...

My only concerns with this setup and with yours is the fact that many people are commenting on how well the T3's are doing on the B series engine... But I'm only boosting 7-8 psi on stock internals so I think that the 14b and the T25 (which flows less than the 14b) will be more than sufficient since the T25 tops out at ~12psi and the 14b tops out a lil higher...

Thats all i know right now I'll update you by this winter. Everything is going into my car this winter.

I still gotta figure out if I can use the 02 housing on the 14b for my B16 with A/C!!!! damn it!

Yeh i thought of a T3 from a cosworth, but I'd rather have a quicker spool. If i decide to run more than 14 PSi I can always get a T28, which will bolt right on in place of the T25

T25's and T28 are much more common in the UK, and cheaper. Picked mine up for £65, and my intercooler was £40.

I'll post some pictures of it, and you can see what i mean by perfect size!

The T28 would be awesome if u are boosting more than 12psi. So uhm how much are those prices in dollar amounts? haha =) I was looking for a T25 and T28 for a while but freaken all of the one from US is all freaken DSM's and its kind of hard to find the ones from nissan or the blue birds... thats why I opted for the 14b... But I think I'll be happy with it. I'm not changing the internals of the engine anyways and plan to run stock... haah I hate SMOGGING!!

Lol... Im hoping to run standard internals as well. Until i need more power!

$113 for the turbo
$69 for the intercooler
at current exchange of 1.7odd $'s to the £.

T28 won't be much more expensive

That 200sx turbo is going to spool at idle lol, ever ride in one of those?
IMHO, it is going to be more of a cork in your exhuast on the top end. Although I know its hard for you guys to come accross decent turbos over there.

Im up in Scotland, don't think i know anyone with a Series 2 escort LSD but I'll ask around.

Yeh I've been in and driven loads of 200's. The turbo doesn't spool up on idle, it spools up at the same time as a T3 would (I've been in a 200 with a T3 - the most noticable difference was LAG....... then booooost!

I don't really understand why a T3 would 'work better' than a T25 other than providing more boost, can anyone explain why the T3 is better suited?

I thought a T25 would be ideal as I'm only going to be running about 7-8 Psi (well within the ranges of the turbo)

Another good reason for going for the T25, is that I can easily upgrade to a T28 if I need to. But I want to do it properly, so if anyone can explain the above I would greatly appretiate it.

Turbos aren't that hard to come but across in the UK, you've just got to know where to look really.

i thought T3 was the type of flange used on the manifold side and the t25/t28 was the size of the compressor? someone tell me i'm wrong and explain it plz
