Help removing broken bolt on exhaust housing

Re:Help removing broken bolt on exhaust housing
you could use a punch to make a small dimple on the bolt and the use a small drill to make a hole in the bolt. i'd just keep on drilling in the bolt til it's gone or there's little left then i would just use something like an ice pick to pry what's left of the bolt out. maybe you'll have to tap new threads into the hole. on second thought, you could just not use it and just bolt the remaining bolts. apply some manifold liquid gasket to it. mine is missing one too but the hole is welded shut. it's missing one cause there's no room to tighten the bolt with the downpipe in the way.

yea drill a hole, and use a extractor bit, make sure you beat the ---- out of the bolt and around it on the housing with a hammer to loosen the threads, and then use alot of heat (beating the ---- out of it with a hammer works better)

i use (i think what spenser is tlaking about) its called an easy out...like a drill bit but it has reverse threads. you drill a pilot hole and then use the easy out. it should come right out. you will have to heat the ---- outta that one though i think

Re:Help removing broken bolt on exhaust housing
the same exact thing happened to mine... this is what i did...
find a nut and a washer set it on top of the broke stud... weld (with a mig)the nut to the washer and the broke bolt
then heat the ---- out of it with a oxy/acetl tourch and unscrew it with a wrench... it came out liek there was nothign to it....
I dont liek to drill cause usualy studds are hardened and hard to drill and i have slipped befor and messed up threads..

Re:Help removing broken bolt on exhaust housing
its ok if its flush... just feed the wire in from the center of the nut... just be sure the size of the nut is the same size as the bolt and not bigger.. or else you will weld the nut to the housing..
mine was flush also when i did it.. a lot easier than drilling..
