The rod bearing problem has been fixed, every engine from july 02 up uses countermeasure bearings. But with the small rods, open deck, and horrible r/s ratio, I'd rather build an SR20.

when that car was first released SCC did a huge tech article on that engine, it is definitely not suited for forced induction, you'd be better off selling that car and getting a 2.0L.

That is such a high tech piece it'll cost you an arm and a leg to replace should you damage anything.

Or you could make friends with someone at a Nissan dealership, we've been throwing engines in them right and left because of the damn convertors.

LOL, that new recall is shitty... the basic heat shield install is a piece of cake. and most of the techs in our shop say the convertor is "a-ok" lol... I'm the unlucky bastard that has to do one tommorow. Oh well, atleast they come in longblock form. I had to do a few shortblock QR25's on Altimas, what a pain in the ***.

As you already know, Nissan warranty blows ***.

Yeah, Nissan warranty does blow. I've done 6 of those bastards in the last 4 months. 4 long and 2 short. The short blocks suck hard. Funny story, the last one I did, I did the recall on it 2 weeks earlier and it came back with a convertor efficiency code and smoking. Called fix and they said the upper part of the convertor must have already been gone when I did the recall, since the recall offers no way to check that, I asked, he said they were looking into it. What a joke.

Well, I did my first Qr25 long block in a sentra.. pretty cake job.. Just sucks when the other guys are gravey'n down on brake jobs and services, oh its all apart of the game, take some shitty jobs, get some good ones. ya know how your "suppose" to damage the old engine when it comes out so it can be destroyed? lol.. well Nissan isnt calling them back, So I loaded 2 of them up in my van. 1 good running qr25 and one burning oil. Wonder what I can do with those? coughebaycough

damn 6 of those, haha.. Nice Jared, I scored a 350z 6speed tranny awhile back, customer said it had a "intermit" scratch into second. I think the worst warranty job I've had to do was a VQ35 shortblock in a 02 Altima. Dear god, what a ------- pain in the ***, all caused by a little screw that was left loose on the secondary runner (butterfly) in the intake manifold. Got sucked down the engine!

Have you guys got the prototype Titan truck at your dealership yet?

Ooh, that blows, so far I'm the only one that's had to replace a VQ engine at my dealership, and that was an 02 pathfinder, but I got to do it long, insurance job. Paid around 22 hrs and took me a day, nice stuff. Anyway, we haven't gotten a titan yet, hopefully soon. Everyone at Nissan tells me that V8 looks like a VQ35 with two more cylinders. Speaking of crap warranty on new vehicles, I got to do a steering rack on an 04 quest last month.
