Yeah, this GN was my grandmothers car. Its sitting in the shed behind my house right now, with around 22,000 miles on it. I think we last were offered $29,000 for it as is.

I am pretty sure that the exhaust is cracked, and that the turbo is warped. As far as I know, yes this car did not have a blow off, but it also has a different intake stream then any other 'modern' turbo vehicle. I'll have to take pics when its cool enough to take it out.

Re:Help me find a Grand National Turbo!

My friends car was bought with 27K miles and the orignal tires and air filter were still on it.

He paid $12K for it, but he said I was really worth about $18-19K, but close to $30K sounds like what a GNX might go for ( BTW the GNX was the fastest prodution car in 1987 and that includes ALL ferris and porches ).

GM also built the fastest prodution truck ever built too ( including the lightning ). The 92' GMC Syclone S-10. It ran "13.00" from the factory and waxed the piss outta the vette back then and tuned it could wax a ZR-1, which was $60K vs $27K syclone.

Both cars were killed b/c they were effecting vette sales ( unlike the newer F-bodies which weren't selling to well ).

Score = vette 2, turbo V6's 0.. That's why I hate vettes, rich wennier cars, are the reason that GM is getting its ass stomped by 4 bangers now..

The lightning and typhoon(i know they don't make them anymore) are in for a suprise this year when dodge brings the Ram SRT-10 to the dealership. they expect 12.50 quarter and it is not even supercharged!

Re:Help me find a Grand National Turbo!

Keep in mind the older vipers only ran 12.80... A truck with no rear-end weight is going to be VERY hard to hook-up.

slicks will make it a different story.

BTW, how much is this V-10 beast going to cost ? $45K ??

a syclone with VERY light mods could run low 12's, high 11's, but the RAm V-10 could also handle a 200shot, so...

Time claims are gay... Check out the times that street bike magizines publish.. all the 600's are supposed to run 10.8-10.9 and the bigger ones are in the high 9's, but 99/100 people can only get them to run mid-high 11's for the 600's, and mid-high 10's for the 1000s.. The same goes for SRT neons, viper, Z06, cobra S/C mustang, and a lot of other cars that claim very low times.

Motor trend says the neon runs 13.9, but I've seen 3 different ones run and the fastest was a 14.3, and the other were HIGH HIGH 14's..

When i see a SRT ram run 12.50 at the track in stock form, thats when I give props.

Still dodge has grown some big balls, they should knock GMs lazy ass's out... GM used to be good, but now, all they wanna do is S/C saturns and cavilers ( no offence meant ). Where's the Turbo camaro ??? heh, right, we get a bitch ass GTO.

The caviler in Aust. is a 6-speed, 240whp, turbo, awd !!!

i don't think you will ever see a FI camaro.

supercharged if anything and that would be a longshot

I know, just saying... the STi and the EVO8 and the SRT neon ( with slicks ) could all stomp a mud hole in the vettes ass, and GM is just bending over and taking it.
An all alum. 427 sounds good, but so does a BJ from Pamila Anderson.... Both will never happen.

Dodges original claims for the SRT-4 were around 14.50 - motor trend and the others use a roling start on their tests which takes like .2 - .3 off the quarter mile times.

I happen to have a turbo neon rt that runs faster than 14.50 with no intercooler and 6psi.
I was just sayin' the SRT-10 was cool as well as the bike that dodge put a Viper Motor on. YEAH! i am gonna get on that :o.

anyway while we are on the subject - a custom fabricator in the neon community has already replaced the tiny little turbo on the SRT-4 with a T3/T4 and put nitrous on it too! Dyno results to follow. they expect 11's without the nitrous and it still costs less than an evo 8 or a wrx sti.

well, this is HMT

I don't have a problem with neons, but I seriously don't show them any respect. I mean honda could have built the s2000 with a turbo.. or if they were crazy, they could have built a crx with h22 turbo and call it a 12.00 sec car from the factory.
