Help, I need downpipe advice!!!!!
Well, my car is in storage so the other day I took the top portion of the factory manifold off so I could bolt the turbo and manifold on. But there's a problem, the turbo only fits one way, without hitting the rad fan shroud, and it only fits without the t3 internal wastegate housing. I wanted to run the internal wastegate to save a few bucks, but now it looks like I have to run an external because this manifold only gives me so much room.
I was wondering if I have enough room here to safely use a t3 5 bolt flange (for external wastegates) and run a 2.5" downpipe off it without the downpipe being too close to the rad fan shroud and melt it (and yes, I know that I need to rotate both housings, I haven't got around to that yet) :
Here's the room I have to work with for a downpipe:
Here it is, with the internal wastegate housing.. as you can tell, it's not gonna fit:
What do you guys think?

Buy a new flange, some mandrel bends, break out the welder and make that ---- work.

Do you think I have enough room? I don't want the downpipe to be too close to the plastic raf fan shroud, I'm scared it'll melt it on a hot day.
I also have a bad oil leak, but the oil never drips on the ground. The motor doesn't burn any oil, but as you can tell it's comming from somewhere because it's all over the tranny.

Todd on here made the manifold. I guess it was ment to be used with AC, that's why the flange is so far over.
The tranny isn't in the way, if you're judging by the 3rd pic, that's just the wastegate housing laying on top to demostates how there isn't room for it.
I think with a block off flange (to run a external wastegate) I should be able to do some fancy welding and get the downpipe to fit, i'm just worried about it being to close to the plastic on the rad.

Re:Help, I need downpipe advice!!!!!
I had a similar setup with a 2 1/4" down pipe and it cleared between the shroud fairly easily and my pipes were not bent very well. It was very close to the nipple on the clutch slave though. I never had a problem with it. If you can get a good bend right after the turbo you can avoid all of this. Just cut the mandrel directly in half and use the end with the extreme bend on the turbo side. No problem.

Re:Help, I need downpipe advice!!!!!
These are the only good pics I could find of it on my computer. In the second pic you can see how I had to cut the lower motor mount a bit to fit the acuator. You can also see in the first pic how shitty the bend was. If I would have used a mandrel and just welded it to the flange without the damn collector fitting I used I would have been fine.

Yours looks pretty close to the rad, so I guess I should be safe.
I'm thinking about getting a 2.5" mandrel U bend and cutting it and welding it to the flage so it basically comes right off the turbo 90 degrees and goes straight down.
