ok so im driving my car( 83 242 turbo) to the car wash to clean the engine( looking fo mysterious oil leak)so i spray off the engine and start to drive home im going a reasonable 35 then i had to get in the next lane, so i give it some gas and its makes the loud whistle sound right before it hit boost and continued until i shifted. Once again i gas hard and the sound comes again.It was perfectly fine the whole way over but on the way back it started whistling. The only thing i did was power wash the engine.Some other recent things i did were remove down pipe,charge pipe and intake pipe,shim waste gate,and i kinda race a jaguar on the way to the car wash but i put all the hoses back on and torque the exhaust bolts and everything plz help if possible any thought/ideas are greatly appriciated

 

sounds like you didn't hook up the intake all the way and you can hear the turbo spooling.

 

maybe you took alot of dirt off the air filter and could hear the turbo more. is your boost gauge reacting the same as before?

 

i took offf the turbo and found out that when i washed it the hot to cold cracked the compressor housing so i guess time for new turbo
