HeadGasket for compression ratio

Hi guys, just wondering what kind of headgasket material you recomend for getting the compression ratio lower. I was thinking about copper but was told that it doesnt hold well, and gets leaks after some time. Then i was told about multi layer stell ones...

what do you recomend?? i am doing it with head gasket because i cant get any lower compression pistons to fit.

thanks in advance

what engine do you have?

I'd recommend craig from tunertoys, he carries cometics in a good variety of thicknesses. What engine as asked? How much do you wanna lower your cr?

And it's headGASKET, not headKASKET.

if no one makes pistons for it i highly doubt that someone makes a thicker headgasket...

Yeah I didn't really notice that part. I'm mildly confused by the wording "can't get any lower compression pistons to fit" though.

What motor?!?!

Re: HeadKasket for compression ratio

hi guys, sorry for late reply, this forum isnt sending reply notices to my email.

well, engine is a Opel 1.6 (GM/Vauxhall) (i know this is honda zone but please dont ban me :P )

Its a 16v 1600cc one and i have a T2 turbo to fit it. I will run to about 0.9 bar tops without changing internals. When i say i cant find pistons to fit it, i mean forged ones. My stock piston bore are 79mm, i can get only 81mm forged ones, but i dont want to re-bore my block to fit that.

What i would like to find are 79mm forged ones but its hard here i Portugal (Europe)

turboHF - "if no one makes pistons for it i highly doubt that someone makes a thicker headgasket..." Headgaskets are done custom, so no problem with that. Doing custom pistons its more dificult

thanks guys

you can custom make anything, incl pistons, headgaskets, etc. just look around at big name machine shops and send them photos/specs of your current pistons (or even a current piston) and you can get 4 new forged pistons back

dont D16;s have 79mm pistons? ;) you can run some Honda ones in there lol...

anyway on the subject of the headgasekt... what is the stock material? is it a composite or a multi layer steel gasket? if you stock one is a MLS i would just remove the center steel piece and bring it to your shop and have them cut you one that is like twice as think and reassemble it :y

hi, the stock one is composite. I had a MLS done for a 1.4, i know they copy them. but the tightening part is missing. i will try the stock torque now on next 1.6 engine
