Default Head Gasket

When I replace my head gasket, do I have to replace the bolts too or just the gasket?

Factory recommends you to measure them to see if they have stretched. 80% of the time I just reuse them. but then I know people that swear by replacing them. Its up to you

Defiantly replace!!! They are only like $2 a peice and as you know it is a bit of a pain getting down to a headgasket on a VW, never half *** your car.

you can use a measuring tape? but for more accuracy a micrometer is better.

"on the round end of the connector at the bolt up to the turbo what is the part number on the round part to bolt up to the turbo plate, 2 90 degree elbows, 2 tee fittings and the manifold plate, what is the other round section on the turbo plate, needing to know cause that is a great setup, and does that allow a/c"

The round section is straight 2 1/4"(in my case) sce 40 pipe. Just order a 2-ft. section and use whatever you need. You will have to mock up the manifold on the motor and adjust that section and tack it to where it will clear the A/C.

studs are good... but you are suposed to retourqe them every few thousand miles... they are a pita to say the least.

anyway... headstuds are hella cheap if you buy from auto-zone or the likes... thats one of the few parts i see no reason of buying OEM
