Default Has Anyone Tried A SSAC Ball Bearing Turbo?

i keep hearing about problems with the housings and seals being weak in the ssac turbos, but people get away with a oil restrictor and are left with the housing problems

what if the SSAC dual ball bearing GT28RS has a good cartridge and we can replace the housings with Garrett ones?

has anyone even tried one? or is the consensus that it will just spray ball bearings into your intercooler and engine bay chineese car bomb style

no you can't. I recently had the "chance" to see a chinese gt3071R CHRA.
brand new, you can see the compressor wheel wobble when spun by hand. Yeah!
Where they come from: Feng-cheng city turbo manufacture.
The corresponding garrett housing, although it does fit the compressor wheel, doesn't fit the backplate at all. There's a ¾" gap!
Now is it worth the effort making it fit? no. THey don'T last. I got many reports of chinese GT25R and gt28R that grenaded after 1-2 weeks of use.
if it was possible, I would rather do the opposite: garrett CHRA with chinese housings.

CDM turbo's maybe crap but in 10yrs we'll all be rocking the wuxi mingzhu garrett rip off. They'll get better, they're just crap currently.
