Found a nice ram style manifold for $163 shipped on ebay that comes with a short down pipe

getting crome for tuning system

need
Intercooler piping
turbo (looking for a 14b or something small with a t3 flange)
oil lines
bov
boost gauge
boost controller??? not sure for 4psi or not

thanks a bunch for helping me out guys

OMG those e-bay ram horn mains are the shitzs get it and run like 20 psi; no need for crome just get a fmu :6.

Aren't fmu's unreliable and also i don't really know what makes up a good manifold just heard that the ram style is good do you think that an ebay one would do me good at 4psi thanks

Re: H23 turbo kit

4psi is nothing. do 10 and now we're talking.

Re: H23 turbo kit

were trying you ------- retard.

Get rid of that shitty manifold... Theres your first step.

Re: H23 turbo kit

Basically those manifold will crack after heating up and cooling down over and over again. The welds are gone over with a tig to give the welds there nice appearance. I owned a d-series tubular and after about 2 months it started to crack, the small "support" rods they came with broke off within two weeks. Your best bet would be to man up and pick up the bigdaddys solid manifold that will not crack. Get some dsm 450 injectors, ebay intercooler for low boost applications like yours, and hit up Racing Solutions for some cheap piping, get your all your oil lines, couplers, Turbo of your choice, wasstegate if its external, and chip your ecu tune accordingly, ------ simple :6

4 psi is ------- worthless, there's no point.

JDMN 05-21-2008 03:48 PM

Re: H23 turbo kit

Ok thanks for the info man and will start looking into custom manifolds or the one for 250 but yeah the only reason i am boosting so little is because i don't want to upgrade the internals and also that will give me around 30-40 wheel hp gain i believe and there are camshafts for $418 for like 10-20 whp gain so i chose this route

zestyskater69 05-21-2008 04:35 PM

Re: H23 turbo kit

If the engine is tuned properly you can safely run 8 pounds, i would push it to 12 >:D

If you dont run AT LEAST 10 youre a girl. :-*

Re: H23 turbo kit

why spend 600 for 4psi? i wipe my ass with 4 psi. Those H23s are pretty damn strong, and would hold 10psi very well if tuned

Damn, I think the n00b season is well started. Do we need to wait for automn to hunt them ??? ?

Re: H23 turbo kit

I am just starting with 4psi easy gypsies never said i wasn't gonna bring it up but yeah getting a custom turbo manifold new for 250 and then getting a t3 turbo just need oil lines crome and intercooler piping

CBrandon7 05-28-2008 03:11 AM

Re: H23 turbo kit

If your goin with a 14b might as well start off with the stock 8psi, it will give that h23 a kick in the arse and can still be plenty reliable just get it tuned and you will be fine.

there is no point in 4psi

read up on that post and start buying parts

Re: H23 turbo kit

Get a bigger turbo. A 14b on an H23 running 4psi is a joke. It's too damn small.

ShoofIsLudin 06-04-2008 11:23 AM

Re: H23 turbo kit

i think the 14b is too small for the h23. I wouldn't say 4psi is completely worthless, it would be some horsepower(actually torque) added but it is vagina status as far as everyone on HMT is concerned. It'll pull nice down low if you can eeven stabilize boost at 4psi with an internal wastegate.

After all the install....ur biggest issue is gonna be detonation so you'll need a decent tune......and the H-series pistons are weak around the ring lands. So a not so great tune could ---- something up in no time.
Good luck.
U need a manifold that will mate the turbo of ur choice...unless you can fab up some kind of adapter plate. Read up on, all the info is here and its not too difficult, and its do-able. Don't be a nig nog about it.

Why don't you just look around on DSM forums and get a DSM set up and drill the hole in the manifold flange???

Cheap and easy

seerex 06-04-2008 02:56 PM

Re: H23 turbo kit

14b is a joke on anything but a sohc d-series. Buy BDV mani. 4psi is a joke those h23 can take a ---- ton more then that. Dsm 450's will limit you to around 300hp, I think that will be enough for you. You will need to have a ecu chipped, Xenocron is your man for that. Your also going to need a clutch and fuel pump, once again Xenocron is you man. Now go to all the stickies and read, read, and READ!!!

Went on a JDM F22B DOHC in a CB7 WAGON... Pics and tire shredding coming soon (few weeks)

Re: H23 turbo kit

I'm beatin on my h22 at@ 8 psi daily stock intrenals no vtec and just an fmu. It runs rich sometimes. I bump it up to @ 14 psi once in a while. It's still holding up.
Just ordered Crome pro from Xeno last week.a nice combo with wideband and all. I'll be the first one here on Aruba running Crome. Everybody here is using microtec. I hate being like everybody else.

Re: H23 turbo kit

14b is too small for H23 get a 16g with stock wastegate and chipped ecu and have fun. just do a compression test first not really a strain on the motor even with the 14b it wont be a strain but search and you'll find

D16y7DX 06-07-2008 03:19 AM

Re: H23 turbo kit

I wouldn't even run 4 psi on my d16. F-that. Dude if you wanna gain 30 horses for $600 buy a header, cam, intake, and exhaust. If you grow some balls boost that bitch to AT LEAST 10 psi. Come on man. I am gonna run more than 4 psi on my y7. come on.

and for the guy who created this thread....... 4psi is pointless (to spend all that money), not to mention you motor can handle 10 psi easy!!!! (---- my dohc zc ran 8psi 24/7 untill i wanted more power :y) just search the forum, you could learn alot.

Re: H23 turbo kit

do you guys actually think this guy can keep the car on the road with over 300 to the wheel?

I/H/cam(S) will only get so much without a tune, and i guarentee it won't be close to 200whp.

BIGGER TURBO for sure

15" subwoofer can give 10hp at the wheel too!
